Jeroen Ward, Michael van den Kerkhof

Jeroen Ward, dramatherapist and Michael van den Kerkhof, psychomotor therapist in training, both work with clients with an IQ of 130+. Because of these clients’ tendency to engage the world in a cognitive way, sometimes distancing themselves from their bodies and feelings, it is even more challenging to lure them into the unknown, into a playspace of feeling, being and breathing.

Abstract of workshop: EVERYTHING STARTS WITH A BREATH. Playing through sound and movement

Everything starts with a breath…

With each breath you notice something. [breathe]. You feel something. [breathe]. You animate this into your own perception. [breathe]. And you express this all into something new. [breathe]. Into a movement, a dance, a playful interaction…
That first breath can be the stepping stone to a new experience. But, in order to experience the world around you, you first have to experience your inner world.

What do you perceive?
What bodily sensations do you feel?
Where do you feel your emotions?

Who are you in close proximity to yourself and the other? In this workshop, inspired by dramatherapy, play and dance, we will connect to our breath, move, play and dance from our breath and connect to others through our breath. This workshop will be a personal experience, because as a therapist you first have to consciously experience yourself before you can consciously engage your client.

Everything starts with a breath…
Everything ends with a breath…
